Grounds Keeper

SUMMARY:  The Grounds Keeper will maintain grounds, which is includes but not limited to mowing grass, pruning trees and shrubs, snow removal and salting walkways.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Maintain and keep all grounds equipment in good repair

  2. Keep grounds clean

  3. Operate mowing and other outdoor equipment

  4. Prune trees and shrubs

  5. Assist with the decorating of Christmas items

  6. Assist with Maintenance 1 as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and observance of safety precautions

Basic working knowledge of outdoor yard equipment

Dependable/Self Starter

 

EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE:

Not applicable; experience preferred

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read, write, and speak English

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

                       

REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to make common sense decisions to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction. 

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must have sufficient mobility and dexterity to safely climb ladders, steps, etc.

Must have sufficient mobility and dexterity to safely operate hand and power tools, gauges, valves and etc.

Must be able to see and hear.

Must be able to bend , stoop, bend and lift up to 100 pounds

Use prosthetic or mechanical devices may be used to adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be safely met. Devices may not be such that they interfere with normal safety aides (modified if necessary).

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in busy sometimes hectic atmosphere

Works indoors and outdoors

Works with equipment that may cut, burn or otherwise harm-safety measures must be taken in areas

Requires some weekend, nights, holidays and overtime

Is subject to frequent interruptions

May be exposed to various odors, fumes, temperatures, chemicals, heat, infectious waste diseases, conditions and etc. including Hepatitis B Virus
